Starting with a new outsourced paraplanner can be daunting. The relatively simple process of collecting documents and compiling a request form can seem overwhelming and can, unfortunately, be put into the “too hard” basket.
But it doesn’t need to be that way! Over the years we’ve identified the key sticking points for our new clients and have developed an effective way of properly inducting new practices, as well as helping them refine their own processes to start outsourcing.
This is done primarily through our Paraplanning Champion system. When a new practice comes on board with Clique Paraplanning, one of our paraplanners is assigned to them as their “Champion.” A Paraplanning Champion will:
- Be a central point of contact during the onboarding phase.
- Collect all initial information and configure templates and preferences.
- Write all SoAs during the onboarding stage.
- Conduct formal debriefs after each plan is returned during onboarding.
- Brief the rest of the team when the practice is ready to graduate.
Having a single point of contact helps us quickly refine SoA templates and practice-specific processes, and removes the need for our new clients to repeat themselves each time a plan is worked on by a different team member. This is a huge point of frustration for many practices, and one of the key reasons they come to us as a new outsourcing provider.
Our Paraplanning Champion system is a small part of our onboarding process and one of the ways we’re striving to improve outsourced paraplanning from top to bottom.
